The Learning Council Events
Does your child like to sing? Youth Choir is a 10-week class, held every Tuesday at NFSIS starting January 30th. Deadline to register is January 20th.
Feb 15 – Heritage Month Movie – John Lewis is about the 60-plus years of social activism and legislative action on civil rights, voting rights, gun control.
Feb 18 – Etienne Tolno from Guinea will be leading West African Drum and Dance classes. He has been studying West African music since his early teens and drumming professionally with various companies in Guinea since his early twenties.
Feb 24 & Mar 2 – Natural Home Remedies is a two-part workshop based on the principles of anthroposophical medicine designed to introduce you to home care.
Feb 26 – Wisdom in Fairy Tales, the power of stories, is a talk by Thesa Callinicos, Waldorf teacher and storyteller over the last 50 years.
Mar 3 – In the Digging into Spring workshop, learn about early spring perennial roots for health and wellbeing. A hands-on learning experience.
Mar 6 & 13 – In Bike Maintenance learn how to change tires, clean/adjust the gears and service the brakes. Register with the Nature Connection.
Mar 10 – Come on out and join us for our annual Seed Swap. Get ready for the growing season and learn from our local seed saving experts.
Mar 10 – Liberté is French for Freedom, and this dynamic show will tell a story of humanity through music, movement, multimedia and more. Choreographed by world renown West African artist, Fara Tolno.
Feb 6, 13, 20, 27 – Movement as Medicine Tuesday – let your body wisdom guide you. Facilitated by Arlyn Alderdice at the Hearth.
Tuesdays & Thursdays – Feb 27-Mar 21 – Women In Dialogue is a 4-week workshop that explores and tells untold stories about our experiences as women.
Fridays, Mar 29-May 3 – The hip-hop dance class with Ellie will focus on choreography, dance, and skill building. Students will learn hip-hop basics and a hip-hop routine.
Fridays – Come and move with us in the Movement As Medicine with pre-recorded music – let your body lead. Facilitated by Arlyn Alderdice.
Tuesdays, Nov 21-Apr 16 – The Arbol Winter Market will occur on designated Tuesdays from November 21 through Apr 16 – held at The Hearth in Paonia.
Saturdays, Feb 24-Mar 16 – Amy Porter will facilitate a Comprehensive Sexual Health Education class for high school students in a 4-week class.
Thursdays, Jan 25 – Mar 7 – With the Album Art Design Class, experience the opportunity to help design the album art for a North Fork community-produced record
Every Monday – Mindful Mamas encourages you to come as you are to gather, share and learn more about pregnancies.
Tuesdays – The Paonia Bike Co-op is a non-profit, educationally-based co-op that helps people work on and learn about bikes.
Wednesdays – Senior Yoga with Katy Goldsberry is a gentle therapeutic class for all bodies and abilities – at The Hearth.
The Learning Council transforms the Hearth every Wednesday night into an open studio. Artists of all skill levels are welcome to practice life drawing.
2nd Saturday of Month – The Day of Mindfulness will include sitting meditation, tea, Dharma talk or poem, walking meditation and sharing our reflections.
