The Beginning Beekeeping Workshop with Julie Finley Ridinger was done via Zoom on April 15, 2021. Attendees learned about the life cycle of bees and challenges facing hives, evaluated the health of a colony and sourced clean forage through the season plus more.
The Learning Council was glad to team up with the Paonia Ranger District, The Nature Connection, The Western Slope Conservation Center, Interpretive Association of Western Colorado, BLM, Conservation Legacy, Americorps and Recreational Resource Management to participate in the Celebration of National Public Lands Day at beautiful Lost Lake.
The Learning Council and VOGA teamed up to offer a class on cultivating heirloom grain, at Thistle Whistle Farm in Hotchkiss.
The Mushroom Cultivation class at the CommUnity garden was a great success. Niki Carpenter led the enthusiastic group in building beds for King Stropharia to grow and bring health to marginal soil.
